If you’re in aviation marketing like me, you’ve probably noticed that there is a chronic shortage of stock photography about certain aviation subjects.
There are some good glossy VIP business jet photos, but if you’re looking for a particular make and model of aircraft or a particular subject for aircraft charter, management or maintenance, we keep seeing the same images over and over again.
And Google isn’t much help, since many terms in the “rest of the world” means something different to aviation people like us!
InFlight USA and AeroSearcher now have a nifty search engine for aviation topics, articles and jobs.
But the part I like best is the Photo Search feature.

Hey Paula!
There are professional photographers out there (like me…and others!) that have thousands of aviation images created over decades. Contacting one of them could lead to a gold mine of images that have been little used (if at all), and are available for licensing. Also, they can be hired to shoot something specific, so it never hurts to ask.
Conversely, there is the International Society for Aviation Photography, with a world-wide membership, that has both professional and amateur- created libraries. Their website is https://aviationphoto.org
Just google “aviation photographers) and you’ll find much more than you bargained for.
Be Well!
John
Thanks for your comment, John!
Any advice for marketing pros on contacting aviation photographers? I generally look for a particular make or model in Google images (or AeroSearcher) then contact the photographer if I can find them.
It would be great if aviation photographers could create a searchable list or catalog of stock available.
If I Google “Aviation Photographer” and I’m looking for a Tweety Bird trainer, I might have to contact a TON of photographers (wasting their time and mine) before I find an image I can use.
